Enjeux identitaires en Méditerranée ou la rivalité fraternelle en héritage

René Girard postule que l’imaginaire hérité du sacré visait à empêcher, par les catégorisations claires que sont les différenciations culturelles, la rivalité entre proches. Mais ces catégorisations sont aujourd’hui en crise par le fait du désenchantement du monde opéré par le judéo-christianisme, désenchantement que Girard assimile à une crise du sacrifice comme exutoire. Les deux films que nous analysons ici contiennent en filigrane cette crise des catégorisations héritées du sacré et de la tradition. Dans la vie et Les citronniers racontent la relative solitude qui permet chaque fois la rencontre de deux femmes qui semblent pourtant bien entourées au niveau familial. Cette solitude paraît à chaque fois liée à la mise en doute des valeurs et des catégories morales héritées de leur communauté d’origine. Quel est, dans ce cadre, le rôle encore dévolu au sacrifice ?

René Girard postulates that the imaginary inherited from the sacred, aimed to prevent family rivalry through the clear categorisations which are cultural differentiation. However, these categorisations are nowadays in crisis, consequence of the disenchantment of the world operated by judeo-christianity, a disenchantment which Girard assimilates to a crisis of the sacrifice as a catharsis. The films which we will analyse here all contain, implicitly, this categorisational crisis inherited from the sacred and from tradition. Thus, Dans la vie portrays the relative solitude of two women who appear nonetheless well surrounded by family. It’s this same solitude which brings two other women together, the protagonists of the film entitled Les Citronniers. This solitude seems precisely linked to the questioning of values and moral categories inherited from their native community. It’s this shared doubt which unifies these women. What is, in this case, the role still allotted to sacrifice ?
